Equalities Structure

The 'University Remuneration & HR Committee' is the highest institutional strategic group for equalities acting as the main strategic steering group where equalities is on the agenda and addressed and supported - attendance: Senior Governor, Principal, Lay Members of Court, V-P for Governance & Planning, Chief Legal Officer, Director of HR, and Head of E&D (HR). 

Within the HR unit, the ED&I function is strategically endorsed by the:

  • Principal
  • Vice-Principal ED&I Champion (senior Academic)
  • V-P for Governance & Planning (strategic responsibility for HR/E&D)
  • Chief Legal Officer
  • Director of HR (line management of Head of E&D)
  • Direct equalities groups:
    1. E,D&I and Athena SWAN Committee
    2. Race Equality Group (inc. Religion and Belief)
    3. REF E&D Review Group
    4. Sabbatical & Student Representative Council Equal Opps
    5. School Athena SWAN Self Assessment Teams
    6. School ED&I Committees
    7. Scottish Student Diversity Working Group
  • Mainstreamed equalities agenda into the structures of the: 
    1. Academic Council meeting
    2. Head of Schools Lunch Meeting
    3. HR Excellence in Research Group 
    4. Research & Teaching Forum
    5. Researcher Forum (Directors of Research)
    6. Consultative Trades Union Committee
    7. Wellbeing & Healthy Working Lives Group meeting
