Sexual health and contraception

COVID-19 Update: please contact Sexual Health Fife directly on 01592 647979 for information about sexual health services and appointments.  The University Health Hub is unable to make appointments or answer sexual health queries at this time. There are NO clinics in St Andrews just now so please do not go to St Andrews Hospital.

NHS Contraception and Sexual Health Clinic

There is a NHS run Sexual Health Clinic for students at St Andrews Community Hospital on a Friday afternoon between 1.30pm and 5pm during term time and is an appointment only clinic.  To make an appointment please telephone the Student Health Hub on 01334 465777. If the hub is closed then please contact Sexual Health Fife directly on 01592 647979.

In addition there is a NHS run Sexual Health Clinic for the general public at St Andrews Community Hospital on a Friday between 9am and 12.30pm and is also an appointment only clinic.  To make an appointment please telephone 01592 647979 between 8.30am - 1.30pm, Monday to Friday or contact the Student Health Hub on 01334 465777.

Both clinics are located within Outpatients which is next door to the Student Health Hub.  If you have any queries then please feel free to pop in to the Student Health Hub.

Keep It or Cancel It! - It is a waste of clinical time if you don't notify us that you no longer require your appointment. It also increases waiting times. You MUST tell us if you no longer require the appointment, call the Student Health Hub on 01334 465777 or email to cancel it so it can be offered to another person. If the hub is closed please contact Sexual Health Fife directly on 01592 647979.

What can Sexual Health Fife Clinics do for me?:

  • Contraception
  • Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (information, fitting, replacement and removal).
  • STI testing and treating.
  • Blood-Borne Viruses (testing, treatment and support).
  • Partner Notification (informing your sexual partner(s) in cases of STI's/BBVs).

If you think you are pregnant, you can find out more at the Sexual Health Clinic, or speak to the Practice Nurse within your GP Practice, located within the St Andrews Community Hospital. Pregnancy tests can be purchased at any chemist or supermarket.

For more general information please see Sexual Health Fife.

Contraception

Because the service is of high demand, it may be quicker to obtain the pill, injection and implants by making an appointment to see one of the practice nurses at the medical practice you are registered with.

Free condoms are also available from:

  • Student Services (Eden Court)
  • Student Health Hub (St Andrews Community Hospital)
  • The Director of Representation and Iain Cupples (Students' Association, Union Building)
  • The Union porter (at night)
  • Condom distributors (located in every halls of residence)

The morning after pill is available at any of the chemists and would be quicker to obtain rather than waiting for an appointment with the sexual health clinic or GP practice.
