• Pay your fees

  You will not be able to complete the matriculation process unless you pay your fees, so make any payment or funding arrangements in good time.

  Ensure any funding is in place. For more information, see the fees information for part-time study.

  It is University policy not to send out invoices to students for payment of tuition or accommodation, as all the fee information is published online.

  Entrants should note that it is a condition of registration with the University that they accept liability for their tuition fees.

• Students with a disability

  If you are a student with a disability, it is never too early to start organising the support you may need. Once you have accepted your place get in touch with the disability team (email disability@st-andrews.ac.uk) who can assist you in preparing for St Andrews.

• Open your computer account

  Open your computer account and activate your University email.

  Your University email address is yourusername@st-andrews.ac.uk. Your username is included in your entrant email and should always be lowercase. You will create your password when you open your account. 

  Once you have opened your email account, you will be able to access it using Office 365. We will use this account to contact you, so please check your University email at least every 48 hours.

  Offers for accommodation

  If you are applying for University accommodation, all correspondence from Student Accommodation Services will be sent direct to your St Andrews email address once you have set up your account. It is important you check this on a regular basis.

  Account issues

  If you have any issues with setting up or using your computer and email account, IT Services can assist.

• Apply for your student ID (matriculation) card

  Apply for your student ID (matriculation) card as soon as possible to allow time for it to be produced ready for your arrival.

  You will receive your card during orientation. This card is also your library borrowing card and will give you access to University buildings, such as the open-access computer classrooms.

  If you are applying for University accommodation

  If you have registered to apply for University accommodation, you do not need to apply separately for a student ID (matriculation) card. As part of applying for accommodation, you will be asked to upload a photo that will be used to create a card that is both your matriculation card and your accommodation key card.

• Choose your modules

  Provisionally selecting your modules online is known as pre-advising. Pre-advising is an online process during which you submit your provisional module choices via the academic advising system.

  Pre-advising will be available in MySaint under the academic advising heading from Tuesday 18 June 2024. If you receive your entrant email after this date, it may take a couple of days from receiving your email for this to be set up for you to use.

  The pre-advising page, the programme requirements, and the module catalogue will help you understand which modules are available to you. If you have any queries about module choices, email curriculum@st-andrews.ac.uk.

  You will discuss your module choices at advising during orientation before your choices are finalised and approved. Even when your module choices have been approved, it may be possible to change your mind within the first week of the semester. 

  If you are starting your studies in September, an Adviser of Studies will be assigned to you in late August. If you are starting your studies in Semester 2, an Adviser of Studies will be assigned to you in January.

• Online matriculation

  Online matriculation will be available in MySaint from Monday 26 August 2024. We will email you when the system is open.

  The online matriculation process will take you through the elements of registration required for you to become a St Andrews student. You should complete the process before orientation week if possible. 

  An email will be sent to your University account with instructions on how to access online matriculation once it is available. You must have created your University email account to be able to access online matriculation in MySaint. 

  You must also complete some online mandatory training modules. Online matriculation will include more information on these.

• Attend advising

  You must attend a meeting to finalise your module choices before teaching starts in September.

  In early September, we will email you with information about meeting with your adviser between Monday 9 and Wednesday 11 September 2024.

• Matriculation

  The final step in the registration process is known as matriculation.

  Matriculation will take place 9am to 2pm on Friday 12 January 2024 in the Gateway building.
