Membership of the General Council

Automatic membership of the General Council is granted to:

1. the Chancellor of the University
2. all persons on whom the University has conferred an academic degree or licentiate in dental surgery
3. the members and former members of the University Court
4. the professors and former professors of the University
5. those readers, senior lecturers, lecturers and assistant lecturers in the University who have held any such office in the University for a period of one year
6. former readers, senior lecturers and lecturers in the University who were members of the Council during their tenure of office as such and who continued to be employed as readers, senior lecturers or lecturers in the University until retirement.

Membership of the General Council is governed by ordinance number 96 of the University of St Andrews.
