Childcare

Children of International students between the ages of 5 and 18 may attend school (primary and secondary) free of charge provided they gained entry clearance as dependants of their parent(s).

Free part-time pre-school education places are available for all 3-5 year olds - there is a limit to this but for more information on the following link MyGovScot or ask your childcare provider. This is available to all students including overseas.

Help is also available within the school system for children with learning difficulties.

The Bilingual Support Service of Fife Council Education Service collaborates with schools and parents to support pupils in Fife schools who are learning English as an Additional Language.

After school care

For care before/after school and on school holidays, with pickups from various primary schools.

One of the schools, Lawhead Primary provides after school care as do two of the day nurseries - Rainbow.

The other after school care is provided by Cosmos After School Care Group, Cosmos Community Centre, Abbey Walk, St. Andrews (Phone: 01334 474140).

Help with childcare costs

  • This is a scheme of support for undergraduate full time students from Scotland. The fund is to assist with additional costs for registered childcare.
  • Undergraduate students receiving funding from England, Wales and Northern Ireland bodies who are eligible for childcare grants are not eligible for the Childcare Fund. Students in this category can apply to the Discretionary Fund for help with childcare.
  • Part-time and online students can apply to the Discretionary Fund for assistance towards registered Childcare costs.
  • UK postgraduate students can apply to the Discretionary Fund for assistance towards registered child care costs.
