Connect to eduroam

Eduroam is a secure wireless network available for staff and students to use in most University buildings.

Laptops

If you don't have an internet connection, use the uos-connect wifi network to set up eduroam.

1. Go to System preferences.
2. Click Network.
3. Make sure Wi-Fi is selected and your wifi is turned on.
4. Connect to wireless network uos-connect.
5. Open a web browser and go to http://connect.st-andrews.ac.uk.
6. Click Go to eduroam setup.
7. Log in with your University username and password.
8. Click Download eduroam profile.
9. Run the downloaded file to install the profile and click Continue.
10. Enter your St Andrews password and click Install when prompted.
11. Enter your Mac credentials when prompted.

  Select 'Use Without Private Relay' when prompted so the University can verify your identity.
12. Go back to System preferences.
13. Make sure Wi-Fi is selected and click Advanced...
14. Once you're connected, forget uos-connect.
1. In the taskbar, click on the wifi icon.
2. Select uos-connect from the list of available networks.
3. Open a web browser and go to http://connect.st-andrews.ac.uk.
4. Click Go to eduroam setup.
5. A login window will appear.
6. Enter your University username and password, then click Ok.
7. Click Download eduroam profile installer.
8. Click Install on the eduroam installer when it appears.
9. Select Finish when it has successfully installed.
10. Open Wireless networks from the taskbar again.
11. Select eduroam from the list of available wireless connections.
12. When prompted, enter your full University email address (username@st-andrews.ac.uk) and password and click connect.

For new students or students with new laptops

You can set up eduroam before you arrive at St Andrews by visiting cat.eduroam.org.

Download the eduroam installer for the University of St Andrews ahead of time so that it appears as an available wifi network when you get here.

Mobile devices

Download the geteduroam app to set up eduroam on your mobile device.

If you uninstall the app, you'll need to set up eduroam again later so keep it installed after you've connected.

1. Download the geteduroam app on:
  - Google Play
  - the App Store
2. Select University of St Andrews from the Select an institution drop down menu.
3. Select Next.
4. Enter your full University of St Andrews email address and password when prompted.
  
  Using iOS or iPadOS 15?
  Select 'Turn off Private Relay' when prompted so the University can verify your identity.
5. If prompted to add a Hotspot Network, press 'allow'.
6. Select OK.

Connect to uos-connect wireless network.
Open a browser on your device and go to connect.st-andrews.ac.uk.
Click Sign in to download certificate.
Log in with your University username and password.
Click Download eduroam certificate.
Follow the on-screen instructions. When asked, enter your University username and password.

On Android devices, you may be asked to enter the following settings:
