The life of an academic is teaching, research and admin. Teaching has always been a very important part of the career choice. There are three ways to acheive this. The conventional way is to teach at a University level preferably in subjects related to ones research somehow. This can be lectures, tutorials and practicals. However, public engagement is equally important and this is an area we are looking at doing more of. We are keen to visit Schools, Youth Organisations and Science Fairs to demonstrate various chemical and physical phenomena. The background section has information on the techniques that we use in our research.
