Resources for LGBTQ+ students

Updated on: 13 June 2024

Learn about resources and support available for LGBTQ+ students at St Andrews.

St Andrews is dedicated to nurturing a supportive, inclusive, and safe environment for our LGBTQ+ students. University can be a time of growth and challenges, especially around sexuality, gender and how they affect our relationships.

Student Services recognises the negative impact societal issues such as discrimination can have on the wellbeing of LGBTQ+ people. We are committed to creating inclusive services and supportive environments where everyone can feel accepted.

How the University can help

Student Services can offer a range of help including specialist support and resources for your wellbeing and mental health.

Our staff have been trained by LGBT Youth Scotland and Stonewall to support students.

If you are living in University accommodation and would like to discuss transferring rooms, contact your Halls Life team.

For more information on the University’s commitment to its LGBTQ+ community, read the University Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policy.

Reporting discrimination

You can find more information on discrimination, hate crimes, or harassment and can report such incidents at Report and Support. You can also contact the University’s Student Conduct Officer.

If you would like to make a report to an external authority, you can contact Police Scotland or True Vision.

Saints LGBT+

Saints LGBT+ are a subcommittee of the Students’ Association. They organise local events, offer support to students, and have a list of LGBTQ+ resources.
