Prices for marriages in the University chapels

This page outlines the standard ceremony fees to couples planning a wedding or blessing within one of the University chapels. The wedding package includes, but is not limited to, the following provisions:

  • Minister: A University Chaplain may be available to officiate ceremonies for those with an eligible university connection.

Couples eligible under the ‘Other Connection’ category are responsible for securing their own minister and covering any associated costs. Further details can be found in the Eligibility section of the Wedding Guidelines.

  • University Organist: Available on request. Please indicate your preference during the booking process.

  • Administration, Utilities & Staffing: These services are incorporated into the chapel hire fee; no additional charges apply.

  • Parking:

    • St Salvator’s Chapel: Limited parking is available and reserved by the chaplaincy office for the wedding party only. Please refer to the Parking section of the Wedding Guidelines for further information.

    • St Leonard’s Chapel: Parking is not guaranteed. The chapel is located within a grounds of St Leonard's school within which parking is not permitted, and nearby street parking is either pay-and-display or subject to availability—particularly along The Pends.

Please note:

  • There is no fee reduction if you provide your own minister or organist
  • Fees do not cover flowers, bells, or choirs

For detailed information on payment and cancellation policies, please refer to the 'Wedding Payment Policy' section in the Wedding Guidelines.

The wedding year runs from August 1st to July 31st.

Chapel bells

St Salvator’s Chapel has six bells available for weddings, contingent on the availability of bell ringers.

If your wedding falls within the University term, bell ringers are fairly easy to obtain from the student population. However, during holiday periods, this can be more challenging. For more information, please contact the bell ringers directly at at bellringers@st-andrews.ac.uk.

Please note that the published rate is for the indicated period, starting in August each year. Advance bookings beyond these periods do not guarantee this price. Should prices increase, this will be reflected in the final balance owing.

Bellringing fees

Bellringing is available for weddings in St Salvator’s Chapel only, with 6 bells being rung.

  • 2025-27: The rate for 6 bells is £260, with a £100 non-refundable deposit.

Choirs

A wedding choir consists of between four and eight singers.

  • 2025-26: The rate for 8 singers is £620, with a £155 non-refundable deposit.

Further information on the Choir, it's availability, and who to contact to make a booking request can be found within Music section of the Wedding Guidelines.

Once confirmed payment can be made via the University Online Shop.

Recording

You must consult the organist or choir master if you plan to make a video or audio recording of your ceremony. Recorded material is subject to copyright law, and the organist and choir maybe entitled to a fee for recording their performance. Please contact the Chaplaincy at chaplaincy@st-andrews.ac.uk to obtain details of the fees and payment process.
