Prices for marriages in the University chapels
If you are looking to get married in one of the University chapels, this page outlines the cost of the ceremony, plus any additional options available. Wedding fees include:
- minister (if the ceremony is conducted by the University Chaplain or an honorary chaplain)
- organist (if using the University organist, see organ music)
- light and heat
- janitorial services.
There is no reduction if you bring in your own minister or organist. Fees do not include flowers, bells or choirs.
A non-refundable deposit of £200 and booking form secures the chapel for your chosen date and time. You should pay the balance at the University’s online shop eight weeks before the wedding.
If the wedding is cancelled, please inform us in writing as soon as possible. No reason needs to be given. Your deposit is non-refundable, but you will not be required to pay the balance unless the cancellation is within the eight-week balance payment period.
To qualify for the current staff or current student discount, you must be a current registered member of staff or a student with the University.
The wedding year runs from 1 August to 31 July.
St Salvator’s Chapel has six bells. These are available to be rung for weddings, although this is contingent on the availability of bell ringers.
If your wedding falls within University term, bell ringers are fairly easy to obtain from the student population, but during holiday periods this can more difficult. Please contact the bell ringers direct at email@example.com for more information.
This price is for the current academic year only. Advance booking does not guarantee this price. Should prices increase, this will be reflected in the final balance owing.
St Salvator’s Chapel (six bells): £180
The University organist will always do his best to accommodate requests for choirs. If your wedding is during the period of January to September, please contact the organist before 31 October in the preceding year. If your wedding lies in the months of October to December, please make your request before 31 May.
Prices will be given at time of booking based on the currently academic year rate. Advance bookings do not guarantee this price, and price increase will be reflected in the final balance owing.
You must consult the organist or choir master if a video or audio recording is to be made of your ceremony. Recorded material is subject to copyright law and as such the organist and choir are entitled to a fee for recording their performance. Please contact the Chaplaincy by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org to obtain details of fees and how to make a payment.
