The University has a number of cafes which are open to staff, students and the general public. Whether you’re looking for a coffee to take away or a filling lunch in a convenient location, the University cafes have a range of options available.
The Library Cafe
Situated just inside the Main Library, the Library Cafe is a bright and pleasant space to take a break or meet up with friends. A variety of food is on offer — from healthy breakfast options to soup, baked potatoes, paninis and salads at lunchtimes. Snacks and a range of hot and cold drinks are available throughout the day.
The Library Cafe is open from 8.30am to 8pm daily from Monday to Friday, and from 10am to 7pm at weekends.
The Gateway Cafe
Visitors to the Gateway Building can visit the Gateway Cafe, a comfortable space for a bite to eat with wonderful views over St Andrews. The cafe offers breakfast from 8.30am, lunch options including soup, baked potatoes, freshly filled baguettes and a salad bar, as well as home baking and a full range of coffees and speciality teas.
The cafe at the Gateway Building is open from 8.30am until 4pm daily Monday to Friday.
The Medical and Biological Sciences Building Cafe
For a break between studying or exploring St Andrews, why not visit the cafe in the Medical and Biological Sciences Building. Visitors can enjoy breakfast rolls, soup, baked potatoes, sandwiches, home baking, confectionery, and hot and cold drinks — all available to eat in or take away.
The cafe at the Medical and Biological Sciences Building is open from 8.30am until 4.30pm from Monday to Friday.
The School of Physics and Astronomy Cafe
A range of hot breakfast choices, lunch options and hot and cold drinks can be found at the cafe at the School of Physics and Astronomy. Visitors can choose to sit in for a quick lunch or grab a drink to enjoy elsewhere.
The cafe at the School of Physics and Astronomy is open from 9am until 3.30pm from Monday to Friday.
The Students’ Association’s flagship cafe is a vibrant space located at the front of the Union building. The Rector’s Cafe offers all visitors the chance to relax with a drink and watch the world pass by. The Students’ Association also runs the Old Union Coffee Shop, found close to the St Salvator's Chapel on North Street.
