Data protection training

Unless otherwise directed, University staff are required to undertake and complete an online data protection module as part of the ongoing work to promote awareness of data protection law and responsibilities. The training will help ensure that staff are aware of key data protection and privacy requirements and their responsibilities in that regard.

The training will take approximately 45 minutes to complete; at the end of the course, there is a short test which you will need to get an 70% mark on to pass. The training is compulsory.

You can access the training materials and test from OSDS’s LearnUpon portal.

For all new users to the portal, you will need to register first. LearnUpon does not recognise your University username and password; while you can sign up with your University email address, you must use a different password.

Once you have logged in, follow these steps to start the training:

  1. Select Dashboard > Catalogue
  2. Choose General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and select Enrol in Course, then "Yes".
  3. Select Start.
  4. You will then be directed to the start of the GDPR course.

If you have any questions about the training or data protection in general, please email dataprot@st-andrews.ac.uk.
