Mandatory training for employees
Updated on: 22 December 2025
The University requires all new and current employees to complete training courses to meet legal requirements and mitigate potential risks.
The University has a suite of mandatory training courses that all University employees must undertake. These courses support the University’s good operational culture. They do this by
- helping all employees have the same baseline knowledge and skills necessary to undertake important aspects of their work safely and properly, and
- have the same behavioural expectations of each other and our service users.
When and how often must I do the training?
Employees must undertake these mandatory training courses when they first start working for the University. These courses must be completed within their probation period.
After having completed these courses once, all employees must repeat the courses every two years to maintain their knowledge and understanding of the course material.
Reminders for refreshing mandatory training are provided by Heads of School and school managers for school-based employees, and service unit directors for unit-based employees.
How do I access the training?
The University’s suite of mandatory training courses are accessible through Moodle. An overview of each mandatory training course, along with direct links for each course are available below.
