Module description

The module is designed to consolidate playwriting skills gained in Writing for Performance 1 (EN5105) and to introduce writing for the radio and for the screen. Seminars continue to build on both the technical aspects of writing a play or screenplay such as dialogue, characterization, image structure, and dramatic action. Additionally, metaphor, the individual voice of the playwright / screenwriter and the ambition and reach of the contemporary play or film in the wider context are all discussed and explored using core texts and secondary reading. Dramaturgy sessions allow students' work to be read aloud, explored, developed, and experienced in a group setting.
