In your first year, you will build a strong foundation in contemporary management at the University of St Andrews. In your second year at Grenoble Ecole de Management, you’ll choose an MSc to specialise in one of two high-growth areas that are shaping the future of global business:

  • MSc Energy Business and Climate Strategy: develop the knowledge and leadership skills needed to support organisations through the global energy transition, sustainability challenges and net zero transformation.
  • MSc Managing with Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI): learn how organisations use data, analytics and AI to improve decision-making, innovation and business performance while understanding the strategic and ethical implications of emerging technologies.

    • Corporate Finance and Accounting: Introduces students to the basic principles and practices of accounting and corporate finance.
    • Managing Human Resources: reviews the key theoretical and practical aspects involved in managing human resources.
    • Managing and Organising for Grand Challenges: Invites students to develop a deep appreciation of grand challenges facing economies and societies, and the ways in which managing and organising are implicated in the challenges and potential responses by organisations.
    • Marketing: Principles and Practice: offers a critical review of current theory and practice and looks at how marketing is evolving in light of changes to the business context, particularly from a managerial perspective.
    • Reimagining Management and Organisation Studies: Aims to introduce students to the latest innovative theoretical contributions to management and organisation studies by following the trajectory of foundational social theories and their development over time.
    • Strategic Management: develops students' knowledge and understanding of the strategy process and develops an appreciation of organisational responses to the rapidly changing global economy.
    • Alternative Investment: provides students with an overview of investment opportunities alternative to the main equity and bond markets.
    • Behavioural Finance: introduces students to key concepts in behavioural finance and distinguishes between conventional financial theory and behavioural approaches. Focuses on deviations from rational models, illuminating resulting biases that impact upon financial markets, their institutions and other participants.
    • Corporate Governance: covers three key components: corporate governance, risk management, and financial management.
    • Critical Futures for a More Sustainable World
    • Entrepreneurship: Theory and Practice: Provides an introduction to both the theory and practice of entrepreneurship for students who are not on the MSc Entrepreneurship programme, but who are interesting in gaining a better understanding of entrepreneurship.
    • Financial Systems: outlines the fundamentals of financial systems, focusing on the influence of technology and innovation along with the challenges that these pose to regulators. This module is required for achieving Chartered Banker Status.
    • Financial Technology: This module aims to introduce students to recent developments in financial technology (Fintech). Fintech is a broad and rapidly evolving field, and the module provides an overview of key trends and their impact on financial services.
    • International Financial Management: studies in the international monetary frameworks and the conduct of monetary policies in major developed economies.
    • International Marketing: Focus on critical study of international marketing looking at both theory and practice and how international marketing strategy is developed and what the micro and macro factors are that influence this.
    • Leadership in Organisations: Examines how views of leadership have changed since the Industrial Revolution, from mechanistic, behavioural models of behaviour to modern leadership frameworks which facilitate change in ever dynamic national, international and cultural climates.

    • Managerial Decision Making
    • Managing Natural Resources: This module examines managing natural resources and in particular topics such as managing for biodiversity, climate change and water resources and the challenges that arise from this for organisations.
    • Managing Non-Governmental Organisations: Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) occupy distinctive roles within society,. Situating these organisations within their different historical and international settings, this module goes on to examine the strategic challenges they face.
    • Marketing and Society: This module examines the effects of marketing on societies. The powerful social and cultural influence of marketing and in particular advertising has a significant impact on our lives and this module explores the ways in which it impacts us in depth.
    • Portfolio Management: studies key issues in asset allocation, and portfolio composition and management at an advanced level.
    • Risk Management: provides an insight into managing the exposure to risk and how to apply relevant theories to realistic financial decision problems. This module is required for achieving Chartered Banker Status.

  • You will attend lectures throughout Semesters 1 and 2 to prepare you for conducting the research portion of the dissertation. The dissertation is normally on a specific area of management, however, at the University of St Andrews Business School, you will have the freedom to develop a topic of your own, which is of interest to you and will contribute towards career development or further study goals.

    You will be assigned a supervisor based on a research proposal submitted in the second semester so you are able to research and write a 15,000-word dissertation over the summer to be submitted on a date specified in August.

    You'll receive regular academic supervision and develop advanced research, analytical and problem-solving skills that are highly valued by employers and suitable preparation for doctoral study.

  • Small teaching groups of approximately 15 to 60 students create an interactive learning environment where you can work closely with academic staff and peers from a wide range of international and disciplinary backgrounds.

    You'll learn through an engaging combination of lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials and collaborative learning activities designed to develop both academic knowledge and professional skills.

    Teaching places strong emphasis on applying management theory to real organisational challenges, ensuring you graduate ready to contribute from the start of your career.

    Assessment reflects the variety of skills required in modern organisations and may include:

  • A  2.1 undergraduate Honours degree in a subject other than business or management from the UK or the equivalent international qualification. Students with a background in business or management are advised to consider the International Business (MSc) or the Marketing (MSc)
