Training and development

Jenny Donaldson is the Training and Development Co-ordinator for Residential and Business Services and plays an active role in all aspects of training and staff development. Jenny is based in the offices at Butts Wynd. The training spend is approximately £50,000 per year, and the training function is to offer training opportunities which include:

  • Customer Care
  • IT
  • Employee Relations
  • Trainer Skills
  • Management Development
  • Food Hygiene
  • Health & Safety

This is in addition to core induction, on-the-job and statutory training that every employee receives. Our commitment is that all new members of staff will receive a full induction into both the organisation and the job itself. All new members of staff will also receive a comprehensive information pack. If you have any queries about training and development in the department, please contact Jenny (ext 2999 or email jad10@st-andrews.ac.uk).

Induction

Our commitment is that all new members of staff will receive a full induction into both the organisation and the job itself. This includes:

  • Orientation
  • Personal factors
  • Hygiene, Health and Safety
  • General guidance on working for the University

Our aim is to ensure that all our staff receive full and clear instruction for everything involved in the work they have to do, especially with regard to Health & Safety issues. We are committed to providing full induction training on appointment, and to supplementing this with additional training, development, support and instruction throughout employment to ensure that everyone working in the organisation is kept informed of changes in legislation.
