Hannes Alfvén Medal

Emeritus Professor Eric Priest has been awarded the 2017 Hannes Alfvén Medal by the European Geophysical Union ‘for outstanding scientific contributions towards the understanding of plasma processes in the solar system and other cosmical plasma environments’, see http://www.egu.eu/news/306/egu-announces-2017-awards-and-medals/.

Eric Priest was Gregory Professor in the School of Mathematics and Statistics until he retired in 2009, but he continues active research in Solar Magnetohydrodynamics.
