User experience

All decisions relating to the content and design of the University’s website should be data-driven.

The University collects both quantitative and qualitative data from a range of sources to ensure that the website and any web or mobile apps meet users' needs. The Digital Communications team uses this data to make decisions about web design and development and to prioritise work.

The Digital Communications team offers training in elements of user experience (UX), with a view to empower members of staff at the University to gauge how users really interact with certain sites and apps. As well as training, the team are happy to provide guidance on other UX techniques that may be applicable to a School, department or unit.
