History Postgraduate Support

students outside history building

The School of History at St Andrews is home to a vibrant community of postgraduate students, working on topics stretching from the third to the twenty-first century and across the globe. Our taught MLitt programmes cover periods from medieval to modern history and adopt diverse approaches, from Environmental History to Global and Social Political Thought to Legal and Constitutional Studies.

The University has worked hard in recent years to ensure that funding is available for talented students who need financial help to continue their studies here at St Andrews. A key part of this has been the establishment of the Handsel Scheme, a funding collaboration between the University and our generous donors, to support postgraduate scholarships at all levels. Under this programme the University matches donations towards postgraduate study and creates scholarships which provide support for both fees and living expenses.

You can help to ensure that the most talented graduates, regardless of their financial situation or where they are travelling from, have the means and the opportunity to continue their studies to a higher level here in St Andrews.

You can donate now by clicking the button below and selecting ‘History Postgraduate Support’ from the 'Designation' drop-down menu, or speak to Craig Rutherford to talk about how you can help further.
