Appointment of the new Chancellor
Dame Anne Pringle was appointed Chancellor of the University of St Andrews in February 2026, following an election by members of the General Council including alumni and senior academic staff.
Dame Anne succeeds the late Right Honourable Lord Campbell of Pittenweem CH CBE KC FRSE, who sadly died in September 2025. Menzies Campbell, or ‘Ming’ to the thousands who knew him, was appointed Chancellor of the University of St Andrews in 2006 and was a familiar face on campus. He founded The Chancellor’s Circle in 2011 and presided over this group of alumni and friends who have chosen to remember the University with a legacy gift, from its inception until his death.

Inside our Global Research Centres: where curiosity meets collaboration
In September 2025, the University announced the creation of two new Global Research Centres to focus development and understanding round global health and changing climates.
The Global Research Centre for Neonatal Sepsis and Antimicrobial Resistance is bringing together established experts from across the UK and Africa to develop innovative healthcare solutions to improve survival rates and health outcomes for vulnerable newborns.
The Global Research Centre for Changing Climates will leverage insights from climate change past and present, spanning science and society, to better understand the diverse array of challenges posed by a changing climate, and the solutions required to address them.
St Andrews is already home to the Global Research Centre for Diverse Intelligences, which was awarded $1.19m by Templeton World Charity Foundation (TWCF) in September 2025, and the St Andrews Centre for Critical Sustainabilities (StACCS).

Redemption Roasters: the alumni duo changing lives through coffee
Redemption Roasters was founded by alumni duo Max Dubiel (MA 2010) and Ted Rosner (MA 2011), who met as students at St Andrews. It is a social enterprise and specialty coffee roastery with a unique mission: reducing reoffending by training individuals with convictions and those at risk of offending in coffee-roasting and barista skills.
Ted studied History, while Max graduated in International Relations, which will be housed in ‘New College’ – the new home for the University of St Andrews Business School and School of International Relations – thanks to the support of the Making Waves Campaign.
