Chancellor's Circle

Legacy bequests have supported many exciting projects, including the redevelopment of our Sports Centre, the Laidlaw Music Centre and the Scottish Oceans Institute. In addition, a significant number of people have established undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships.

If you choose to let us know that you are planning to leave a legacy, we will invite you to join the Chancellor’s Circle to thank you for your generosity and for supporting the University.

The Chancellor's Circle was established in 2011 by The Rt Hon Lord Campbell of Pittenweem CH CBE PC KC FRSE, who presided over this exclusive group of alumni and friends until his death in September 2025. Today, it is presided over by Dame Anne Pringle, Chancellor of the University of St Andrews.

Members of the Chancellor’s Circle meet regularly with events held each year in St Andrews, London and other locations in the UK and the US.

"It is a great honour to serve as Chancellor of the University of St Andrews. The Chancellor's Circle recognises the remarkable generosity of those who choose to support the University's future through legacy giving, and I am very grateful for your commitment. I look forward to meeting members of the Chancellor's Circle at our biannual events in St Andrews and London, and to thanking you personally for your support." – Dame Anne Pringle, Chancellor
