The Centre is delighted to announce the appointments of Professors François Recanati (Institut Jean Nicod, Paris), Jonathan Schaffer (ANU), Jason Stanley (Rutgers), and Brian Weatherson (Rutgers) to stipendiary Professorial Fellowships in Arché. The appointments, which will run for an initial period of five years, are effective from September 2007 and will augment the Professorial Fellowships of Graham Priest (Melbourne) and Stewart Shapiro (Ohio State) which are also to be extended for a further five years. These posts are funded by the University of St. Andrews in the wake of Arché’s success in attracting further major AHRC sponsorship for its projects on Basic Knowledge (2007-2012) and Contextualism and Relativism (2008-12). Arché’s Professorial Fellows each visit for a period of seven weeks each year, making a major contribution in leading research activity at Arché and playing a significant role in advising and mentoring graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.
