Abstract: 

I introduce what I call the Prichard-Dancy Problem for the Overall Ought, one point of which is that overall ought is a defective concept. Moreover, I consider some reasons for and against replacing overall ought, and I argue that it does not need to be replaced because the non-defective concept most ought can do the work of overall ought. In addition, I compare and contrast the Prichard-Dancy Problem for the Overall Ought with David Copp’s influential Problem of Overridingness. I conclude with some remarks about ethics without the overall ought.
