Personal Identity: A Deflationist Challenge

The talk will present a deflationist take on the debate about personal identity, which has received little attention to date. According to the view developed, the two main parties in the personal identity debate apply terms such as “persons” and “we” differently. They are merely talking past each other. While the paper presents various pieces of evidence suggesting that the debate is a merely verbal dispute, it also points to some provisos attached to such a deflationist approach.
