Self-locating (or de se, first-person) attitudes (e.g. the belief that I am great) and other-locating (or de re) attitudes (e.g. the hope that that person is awesome) raise problems for theories of propositions. In this talk, I develop an impossible-world theory of self-locating and other-locating attitudes, according to which the propositional contents of the two types of attitudes can be fully characterised in terms of impossible-world propositions (i.e. propositions that are sets of possible and impossible worlds). I will argue that my impossible-world theory is preferable to the standard centred-world theory.
