Guest information for University Hall – Wardlaw Wing

The University of St Andrews welcomes you to University Hall – Wardlaw Wing.

The reception/residence office at University Hall is open daily from 8am to 7pm. If you have any questions or need help during your stay, please contact reception.

Bedroom servicing

Bedrooms are serviced daily. Tea and coffee making facilities, towels, complimentary toiletries and coat hangers are provided in each room. 

Car parking

There is space for a limited number of cars. Please ensure you do not block exits or entrances.

There are two disabled parking spaces between Lumsden Wing and Old Wing.

Please note that cars are left at your own risk and you should leave no valuables in them.

Common room

There is a common room and a lounge with a TV on the ground floor.

Dining room

A dining room is in the Lumsden Wing on the first floor, where meals are available on a self-service basis.

A small kitchen is located on each floor of the Wardlaw building. There are no cooking facilities available.

Fire alarm 

Details of fire procedures can be found in your room. You should familiarise yourself with all the fire exits within your building. If you need assistance to evacuate in an emergency, please contact a member of staff as soon as possible after arrival. 

Fire alarms are tested every Tuesday between 11.30am and 11.45am.

The fire sensors in rooms are very sensitive. Hair spray, perfume, aftershave, and similar items may set off the fire alarm, so please use these carefully.

General enquiries

The reception/residence office is open from 8am to 7pm. In the event of an emergency between 7pm and 8am please contact the duty person by calling +44 (0)1334 46 7165.


When you arrive, you will be given a room key and swipe access card for the front door. Please carry them with you at all times.

Please remember to return your key and card when you leave. If you are locked out, contact reception.


Our Laundry services are run through the Washstation app. Please contact reception for further information. 


Incoming mail is distributed from the letter rack in the dining room. Packages and registered letters will be held in the residence office and you will be notified of any for you.
