Guest information for Powell Hall

The University of St Andrews welcomes you to Powell Hall.

The reception is located at the adjacent Agnes Blackadder Hall and is open daily from 7am to 8pm. If you have any questions or need help during your stay, please contact reception.

Bedroom servicing 

Your en suite bedroom will be serviced daily. You will find towels and complimentary toiletries in each room.

If you need a hairdryer, additional pillows or towels please contact reception.

Breakfast

Breakfast is served from 7am to 9.30am in the dining room located a short walk from the residence at University Hall. You will have received directions as part of your check-in process at reception in Agnes Blackadder Hall.

Car parking 

There is free parking in the large car park at the front of the building. Disabled bays are available. Cars are left at your own risk and you are advised to leave no valuables in them.

Fire alarm

Fire procedure details are available in your room. You should familiarise yourself with all the fire exits within your building.

If you would need help to evacuate in an emergency, please contact a member of staff soon after arrival.

There is a fire alarm test every Tuesday at 11am.

The fire sensors in each room are extremely sensitive. When having a shower please keep the bathroom door closed and be careful when using hairspray, perfume, aftershave, and similar items as these may trigger the fire alarm. 

General enquiries

Reception is open daily from 7am to 8pm. If you have an emergency between 8pm and 7am please contact the duty personnel on +44 (0)1334 46 7019.

Heating levels

Radiators in your room are controlled by a thermostat in the morning and evening. You can change the temperature of your room by adjusting the valve on the radiator.

Kitchen

You will have access to a shared kitchen area with tea and coffee making facilities available. Please use your room keycard for access.

Keys

On arrival, you will receive a key card to access your room and the front door. Return your key card to reception when you check out.   

Late check-in

If you arrive after reception hours, please follow the instructions at the entrance to Agnes Blackadder Hall to reach the Guest Services Assistant for check-in assistance.

Laundry
