St Andrews supports a rich and varied programme of concerts and other musical events throughout the year.
The Music Centre presents lunchtime concerts every Wednesday at 13:10 during semester, mostly in the Byre Theatre, by local and visiting professional musicians as well as some of the most talented students at the university. Admission is free for Music Centre members, £3 for non-members.
Lunchtime organ recitals take place each Tuesday during semester at 13:10, either in St Salvator's Chapel or St Leonard's Chapel.
The St Andrews Concert Series, presented by the St Andrews Music Club, includes some of the UK's finest instrumentalists and chamber musicians.
St Andrews Voices is an exciting festival of the human voice in all its forms, which takes place in October each year.
St Andrews Brass Festival is a festival of exploration, experimentation and participation for brass instruments which takes place in November each year.
Every Friday lunchtime the University Music Society hosts a lunchtime recital. They provide university students with the opportunity to perform in a friendly, informal environment, both as a soloist and as a member of a chamber group. Admission is free, and tea and coffee are available.
In addition, there is a busy programme of evening concerts. We are very fortunate to have the Scottish Chamber Orchestra as our orchestra in residence. As well as five full orchestra concerts each year, they present a number of chamber concerts here, and their members provide coaching and masterclass opportunities for our students.
Other regular performers include the Fitzwilliam String Quartet, the various groups run by the Music Centre, the University Music Society and other musical groups from the local community.
