• Wardlaw Museum

  

  The Wardlaw Museum is an ideal venue for a drinks reception, musical performance, book launch or small wedding.

  Hiring the whole space ensures your guests have exclusive access to browse the galleries and enjoy the view from the terrace. The galleries and terrace are also ideal spaces to set up for small musical performances to accompany a reception. Snacks and canapés can be served in the Learning Loft. Catering can be booked through the University of St Andrews Catering Services, which offer a varied menu.

  The museum can host up to 140 guests.

  Charges

  • Evening hire: £665
  • University departments receive a 25% discount on evening hire rates
  • Full or half day by negotiation

• Wardlaw Museum Learning Loft

  

  The Learning Loft is an ideal space to hold talks, workshops, small conferences and meetings. The room is equipped with versatile furniture to enable practical workshops or seminar set up as well as AV equipment. Catering can be ordered via the University of St Andrews Catering Services, who can provide tea, coffee, snacks and light lunches. If you require specialist AV equipment the University of St Andrews IT Media Services can provide support.

  The Learning Loft can accommodate up to 40 people.

  Charges

  • Full day: £190
  • Half day: £125
  • Daytime hourly rate (minmum two hours): £35
  • Full evening: £300
  • Evening hourly rate (minimum two hours): £85
  • University departments receive a 25% discount on daytime rates and a 15% discount on evening rates.
  • Each academic school, service unit and student society receives one free half day use of the Learning Loft each year.

   

• Wardlaw Museum Albany Gallery

  

  The Albany Gallery is the temporary exhibition space at the Wardlaw Museum, hosting a wide variety of changing displays. Ideal for small receptions, talks and book launches, the changing nature of the exhibitions means the venue offers a different atmosphere each time it is used.

  Due to the nature of the gallery there may be loaned objects and conditions in place whereby drinks may not be permitted. Please contact us for more information.

  The Albany Gallery can hold up to 40 people.

  Charges

  • Half Day: £350
  • University departments receive a 25% discount.

• Bell Pettigrew Museum of Natural History

  

  The Bell Pettigrew Museum of Natural History is an ideal setting for drinks receptions, talks, lectures, book launches, fashion shoots, dramatic performances, musical performances and weddings. The venue showcases a wide range of natural history specimens, including taxidermy and fossils. The museum has been described by Sir David Attenborough as “Packed full of treasures and wonders” making it a unique and very special venue.

  The museum can hold up to 70 people.

  Charges

  • Full day: £500
  • Half day: £300
  • Hourly rate (minimum two hours): £65
  • University departments can hire this space for free.

• Information for University Staff and Students on Internal Hire of Museum Spaces

  Academic schools, service units and student societies can book museum venues with the following discounts applied:

  • Wardlaw Museum evening hire: 25%
  • Wardlaw Museum half day or full day: by negotiation
  • Learning Loft daytime hire: 25%
  • Learning Loft evening hire: 15%
  • Albany Gallery: 25%
  • Bell Pettigrew Museum of Natural History: 100%

  In addition, each academic school, service unit and student society receives one free half day booking of the Learning Loft each academic year.

  University staff and students can book the Bell Pettigrew Museum of Natural History for free for events taking place within normal building opening hours.

  We are not able to accept block bookings for recurrent classes throughout a semester. For this please contact the Timetabling team.

  Development use Museums spaces for events in support of their efforts to secure philanthropic support for the University without incurring room hire fees. Staffing costs will be incurred for out of hours events.
