L-Università ta' Malta, known as the University of Malta, is the highest educational institution in Malta. With origins on a Jesuit College dating from 1592, the University of Malta officially came into existence in 1769. Today, the University of Malta offers a unique learning experience across its fourteen faculties. Malta’s Mediterranean position, rich archaeology and unique experiences of rule by the Knights Hospitaller and the British Empire make it a fascinating location to study history.Established : 1769

Getting there and getting around
Flights to Malta are available from Edinburgh airport, and from many other UK airports.
The University of Malta has four campuses: Gozo, Valletta, Marsaxlokk and the main campus at Msida. The main campus is located close to the historic capital of Valletta, and within easy commuting distance of the two main University of Malta accommodation options. In Malta, public transport is safe and affordable. Buses operate between 0530 and 2300 on most routes and a night service is also available on Friday, Saturday nights, public holidays and feast days. Students can benefit from advantageous fares with a student tallinja card. Please refer to the Public Transport website for more information. Ferries are also available from the port of Cirkewwa to the nearby islands of Gozo and Comino.
Accommodation
Malta offers two accommodation options for students, located close to the University campus. Registered students may opt to live at the University Residence or Hotel Kappara. The University Residence is made up of 7-8 bedroom town houses. It also offers a shop, canteen and self-catering facilities. The Hotel Kappara has kitchenette facilities. Students can choose shared or single occupancy rooms at either location. A swimming pool is available at each location. The University Residence is located 2 miles from the main Msida campus and the Hotel Kappara is half a mile away. Both are served by good public transport, and the University Residence also has its own shuttle bus service. Ferries are also available from the port of Cirkewwa to the nearby islands of Gozo and Comino.
