Director of the Global Office

Samantha Lister (currently on maternity leave)

The Director provides leadership to a range of global activities which enhance student mobility and experience, academic reputation and research connectivity internationally. Sam has broad experience in HE administration, through roles in student recruitment, admissions, academic registry and international education. She also served as Warden of St Salvator's Hall for four years. Sam studied German and International Relations at St Andrews, which included a year abroad in Leipzig, and completed an MLitt in Cultural Identity Studies, with a focus on Higher Education and cultural identity.

Christian Harding

The Acting Director is responsible for maintaining the leadership, strategy, and service delivery of the Global Office so as to underpin and support the University’s global engagement, strategic partnerships and networks, international profile, and reputation. He also has oversight of Global Office partnership activities and partnership governance, including due diligence and risk assessment processes , and contractual frameworks. Christian read for his PhD in Mediaeval History at St Andrews and after working in academic roles in Glasgow and Limoges, returned to work in the University in a range of roles in the Library, Registry, and Global Office in 2013.

Acting Head of Communications and Partner Engagement

Harriet Sheridan

The Acting Head of Communications and Partner Engagement is responsible for overseeing Global Office communications and partnership and network engagement, as well as a range of strategic projects focused on research collaboration, co-ordination of the University’s Sanctuary status, and management of visitor experience. Harriet holds an MSc in International Public Policy and Diplomacy and has extensive experience supporting research-led international partnerships and networks.

Student Mobility Officer (Outbound)

Bronagh Masterson (currently on maternity leave)

The Student Mobility Officer is responsible for managing the student experience across outbound cohorts, and for supporting collaborative programmes such as the BA (International Honours). An Italian graduate of St Andrews, Bronagh has worked at the University since 2015 and enjoys supporting students through their study abroad experience.

Strategic Partnerships and Networks Co-ordinator / Student Mobility Officer (Outbound)

Joseph North

The Student Mobility Officer is responsible for managing the student experience across outbound cohorts, and for supporting collaborative programmes such as the BA (International Honours). Joseph is currently covering this role until June 2023, drawing on the experiences of his two years abroad as a student. Joseph is also our Strategic Partnerships Coordinator, and works closely across the team and with our partners to support projects, activities and events. Joseph graduated with a PhD in Italian from Durham University, and joined the Global Office in 2018.

Student Mobility Officer (Inbound)

Tobias Patrick Wolf

Tobias manages the University's relationships with a range of study abroad partners and providers and supports the experience of students spending a semester or year at St Andrews. Tobias studied at the University of Bonn before first moving to Scotland as an Erasmus student in 2015. He since graduated with a Master of Music Degree from the University of Aberdeen. Aside from his work at the Global Office, he is sought after as conductor for concerts and projects all around the world.

Partnerships Officer (Projects)

Julian Burton

The role is responsible for coordinating new collaborative projects, managing partner relationships, overseeing preparations for delegation visits to St Andrews and strategic visits overseas, and working to ensure a high-quality service for students on collaborative taught postgraduate programmes. Julian grew up in Canada and earned his PhD at Rutgers University in the United States. A former teacher at international schools, he lived and worked in eight countries before settling in Scotland in 2018, where he worked in policy and partnerships roles with several charities before joining the university.

Partnerships Officer

Pankaj Kumar

The Partnerships Officer is responsible for supporting the University’s participation in a range of funding programmes and multilateral projects, and the development of new strategic initiatives. Working closely with the Global Office Team, the Partnership Officer also manages various institutional Global projects, and supports senior management with relevant briefings, analyses and planning. Pankaj graduated with a PhD in molecular biology from IARI, India. After working in various academic roles in St Andrews, Pankaj joined the Global Office in 2022.

Acting Global Office Co-ordinator

Morag Mayes

The Acting Global Office Co-ordinator works with colleagues to ensure excellent, streamlined and joined up administrative services across the range of Global Office activities. The role has a particular focus on the co-ordination of partnership agreements and collaborative arrangements, as well as Unit budget planning and monitoring Morag has worked in various roles at the University since 2007 and enjoys the interaction with students, staff and partner institutions, whether already established or in development.

Travel and Events Co-ordinator

Mauireen Quinn

The Travel and Events Co-ordinator provides dedicated support for the outward travel of staff and students, including the provision of pre-departure guidance, and the co-ordination of the University's online travel tool. The role also provides support to events and inward visits as well as playing a key role in co-ordinating the University’s participation in the Turing scheme. Mauireen has a background in luxury hotel management, working in North America and Scotland along with task force projects in various international locations. She returned to St Andrews in 2008 continuing her hospitality career where her key focus has been VIP’s and guest experience. She worked temporarily with the University in RBS (Residential Business Services) and The CRRT (Covid Rapid Response Team) during lockdown and joined The Global Office in 2021.

Summer Schools Co-ordinator

Conor Keir

The Summer Schools Co-ordinator is responsible for the organisation and development of a variety of summer schools and short extracurricular courses. They work with partners to develop exciting and collaborative opportunities for our students and to bring external students to St Andrews. Conor graduated with his LLM in International Law and Security at the University of Dundee in 2019 and worked to create and run interactive student recruitment programmes. He joined the University of St Andrews in 2020, working in CSTPV and moved to the Global Office in 2022. Conor enjoys working on interactive projects and working directly with students.

Global Administrator

Lali Grifell Perea

The Global Administrator provides administrative support for all Global activities and supports the senior administrators. The role includes managing the student documentation from outset to completion for study abroad students as well as offering support to students via email and during consultation hours. Lali studied English at the UAB university in Barcelona and holds an MA honours degree in Interpreting and Translating with French and Spanish as the main languages. She has a background in five-star hospitality and customer service, and worked temporarily in St Leonards School before joining the Global office in August 2022. She enjoys supporting both students and staff across a range of study abroad functions.

Global Senior Administrator (Erasmus+)

Margaret Moore

The Global Senior Administrator (Erasmus+) is responsible for supporting students and staff who are interested in or participating in an Erasmus+ exchange, coming to (inbound) or going from (outbound) the University of St Andrews and is also responsible for liaising with our international partner institutions and other parties to manage and enable student and staff mobility. Margaret graduated from St Andrews and has worked with people from abroad and with people who have studied abroad. She enjoys supporting students and staff throughout the process from enquiries to completion.

Senior Administrator (Strategic Partnerships and Networks)

Shivanee Harshey

The Senior Administrator (Strategic Partnerships and Networks) furthers the University’s commitment to developing and strengthening our strategic partnerships globally and broaden the engagement in partnership projects and activities across the institution. Shivanee holds a bachelor’s in communication design and has worked in several campaigns, communications, and marketing roles in India. Most recently, she was handling digital strategy and social media as part of the Communication, Advocacy and Partnerships team at UNICEF. She works part-time with the Global Office while pursuing her master’s in degree at the School of Management, University of St Andrews.

Global Senior Administrator

Eilidh Henderson

The Global Senior Administrator is responsible for supporting inbound and outbound students through the study abroad journey, liaising with our international partner institutions and providers to enable student and staff mobility. Eilidh graduated with a Masters Degree in English, specialising in Science Fiction, from the University of Dundee. She joined the Global Office in 2022 and enjoys supporting students on their study abroad journey.

Global Modern Apprentice

Rachel Murray

The Global Modern Apprentice role is responsible for undertaking reception duties, such as greeting all staff, students and visitors who come into the Global office, organising and booking meetings, visits and events, and ensuring everyone feels welcomed. She’s delighted to help students and answer any questions they may ask.
