Global Office

The newly established Global Office is responsible for:

  • managing strategic, multi-dimensional partnerships
  • providing coordinated support for key global activities which are cross-institutional and which enhance student experience, academic reputation and research connectivity internationally
  • supporting the alignment of global services to ensure a consistent approach and a seamless service for academics, students and external stakeholders.

The Global Office manages a wide range of study abroad, collaborative programmes, and global joint PhDs, and the associated student experience. The Global Office also manages the business of the University’s International Committee and takes forward projects and initiatives identified by the committee in support of the Internationalisation Strategy.

The office works closely with other units under the "Global" banner (Admissions, Careers, Corporate Communications, Development and the International Education Institute), as well as the Principal’s Office, Schools, Registry, and Research and Innovation Services.

Director of the Global Office

Samantha Lister

The Director provides leadership to the newly established Global Office, ensuring a coordinated institutional approach to the development, quality and delivery of a range of partnership activities and the associated student experience. A graduate of St Andrews, Sam studied German and International Relations, and completed a Masters in Cultural Identity Studies. Since joining the University in 2005, she has worked in various roles in Admissions and Registry, as well as serving as Warden of St Salvator's Hall for four years.

Collaborations Officer

Christian Harding

The Collaborations Officer is responsible for the negotiation, delivery and renewal of partnership agreements for collaborative programmes, for due diligence reports on new and potential partners, and for management of the University’s Erasmus+ programme. Christian graduated from St Andrews with a PhD in Mediaeval History in 2010 and after working in academic positions in Glasgow and Limoges, returned to the University in 2013 working in the Library and Registry before becoming Collaborations Officer for the Global Office in March 2017.

Student Mobility Officer (Outbound)

Bronagh Masterson

The Student Mobility Officer is responsible for managing the student experience across outbound cohorts, and for supporting collaborative programmes such as the BA (International Honours). An Italian graduate of St Andrews, Bronagh has worked at the University since 2015 and enjoys supporting students through their study abroad experience.

Global Senior Administrator

Morag Mayes

This post is responsible for the coordination of operational activities in support of collaborative programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level, including the provision of partner and programme information, the ongoing support of students, and partner liaison. Morag has worked in various roles at the University since 2007 and enjoys the interaction with students, staff and partner institutions, whether already established or in development.

European Coordinator

Joseph North

The European Coordinator works across the team to work closely with our European partners, coordinate projects and support student and staff mobility. Joseph advised students and taught Italian at Durham University, graduating with a PhD in 2016. After working for Leicestershire Adult Learning and Libraries, Joseph joined the Global Office as European Coordinator in 2018. He enjoys practising languages and building relationships with our European partners.

Global Senior Administrator

Lindsay Mera-Rowan

The Global Senior Administrator is responsible for supporting inbound and outbound students through the study abroad journey, liaising with our international partner institutions to manage and enable student mobility. A German Language and Literature graduate of the University of Glasgow, Lindsay spent a year working abroad in Regensburg, Germany, as an English language teaching assistant with the British Council. Lindsay very much enjoys interacting with students participating in study abroad programmes.

Global Senior Administrator (Erasmus+)

Andrzej Hagger

The Global Senior Administrator is responsible for supporting inbound and outbound Erasmus+ exchanges and liaising with our international partner institutions to manage and enable student and staff mobility. Andrzej spent a year studying abroad in Russia as part of his undergraduate degree at St Andrews. He is in the final stages of his PhD in Philosophy and is also an Assistant Warden at St Salvator's Hall.

Global Administrator

Emma Ritson

The Global Administrator provides administrative support for all Global activities and supports the senior administrators. The role includes managing the student documentation from outset to completion for study abroad students as well as offering support to students during consultation hours. Emma studied in St Andrews for her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Neuroscience and graduated in December 2019. Emma enjoys working with students and supporting them through the study abroad process.

Partnerships Officer

Harriet Sheridan

The Partnerships Officer is responsible for managing cross-institution global projects which enhance academic reputation and research connectivity, coordinating a range of funding schemes which involve strong international partnerships, and overseeing the Global Office’s branding and messaging. Harriet holds an MSc in International Public Policy and Diplomacy and has extensive experience supporting research-led international partnerships and networks.

Partnerships Officer (Projects)

John Bennett

The role is responsible for coordinating new collaborative projects, managing partner relationships, overseeing preparations for delegation visits to St Andrews and strategic visits overseas, and working to ensure a high-quality service for students on collaborative taught postgraduate programmes. John graduated from St Andrews with an MA (Hons) in Arabic and Middle East Studies. He has worked in higher education for more than a decade in areas such as curriculum internationalisation, study abroad and strategic partnerships.
