Coronavirus information and guidance


The Global Office at the University provides central administration for University Exchange and Study Abroad programmes, and programmes delivered collaboratively with other institutions, both in the UK and overseas.

Working closely with Registry, Schools, the Proctor's Office, Admissions, Finance, and Student Services, the Global Office provides services to:

  • St Andrews students studying or working abroad for credit, or participating in a collaborative programme
  • inbound exchange and study abroad students
  • Schools within the University of St Andrews
  • partner institutions around the world.

The Global Office also manages the University's Erasmus+ Extended University Charter, which enables the University to enter into Erasmus+ agreements and operate Erasmus+ Student and Staff Mobility.

The Global Office encourages and empowers students by providing a supportive and informative service as they navigate a range of academic transitions. The Global Office offers a friendly and flexible environment for students to access professional expertise, seeking to deliver a fair and consistent service and recognising the importance of pro-active, timely and responsive engagement. The Global Office works collaboratively across the University to ensure their activities and interactions contribute to the enhancement of the St Andrews student experience.

Global connections

The University of St Andrews is an active and engaged member of several prominent associations and networks that foster international collaboration and partnership. The Global Office supports our network activities and ensures that updates are regularly circulated to the students and staff.


Founded in 1992 by University of Oxford, the Europaeum is an association of 17 of Europe’s leading universities, including the University of St Andrews. The Europaeum aims to promote collaboration in Humanities and the Social Sciences between the partners, and to support talented people to make a difference across Europe through opportunities like the Europaeum Scholars Programme.

Talloires Network of Engaged Universities

St Andrews is an engaged member of the Talloires Network of Engaged Universities, a growing global coalition of 406 university presidents, vice-chancellors and rectors in 78 countries who have publicly committed to strengthening the civic roles and social responsibilities of their institutions. It is the largest international network focused particularly on university civic engagement.
