Pierre and Marie Curie University (UPMC), established in 1971, is located in the heart of Paris and is a member of the Sorbonne Universities. It is the largest scientific and medical complex in France with over 125 laboratories including the Observatoire Oceanologique de Villefranche on the Côte d'Azur and has a student population of 32000. It is in Villefranch-sur-Mer that St Andrews students will spend their exchange.

Who can go

Students on degree programmes in the following subject areas may apply to study abroad during their Junior Honours year at Université Pierre et Marie Curie - Paris VI (UPMC) (Pierre-and-Marie-Curie University):

Note: Joint Honours students may only apply for a full year abroad if BOTH subjects are listed above. Joint Honours students applying for one semester must seek permission from both Schools.

Getting there and getting around

A number of airlines, including budget airlines, fly regularly to Paris from Edinburgh airport and other airports around the UK.

Paris has a good public transportation service.

Accommodation

In most cases, foreign students welcomed by UPMC must find their own accommodation. It is an issue that should be dealt with as soon as possible.
