The Careers Centre offers one-to-one appointments with careers advisers and CV advisers.
Students, alumni (within three years of graduation), and early career researcher staff can book an appointment.

Types of appointment
Careers advice
To talk about any aspect of your career, including postgraduate study.
Appointments are at the Careers Centre or on Microsoft Teams, and last 20 minutes. You can have a longer appointment if you and the adviser feel it would help.
You don't need to know what you want to do before you meet an adviser.
You can talk about anything, such as:
- exploring career options
- searching for work experience, internships, and graduate jobs
- discovering postgraduate study options, and writing personal statements for them
- improving job applications
- finding useful contacts
- preparing for psychometric tests and assessment centres
- disability-related queries, including disclosure, adjustments, and identifying inclusive opportunities
- choosing modules.
CV, cover letter and LinkedIn advice
To talk about your CV, cover letter or LinkedIn profile.
Appointments are on Microsoft Teams, and last 15 minutes.
You can talk about things like:
- creating a CV or cover letter
- tailoring a CV or cover letter to a specific job
- choosing the correct format and style for your CV
- creating and updating an effective LinkedIn profile.

Interview practice
To talk about interviews or to have a mock interview.
Appointments are at the Careers Centre or on Microsoft Teams, and last 45 minutes.
You can get help with interviews you've been invited to, or support with interviews in general.

Early career researcher staff
For early career researcher staff to talk about any aspect of their career.
Appointments are at the Careers Centre or on Microsoft Teams, and last 45 minutes.
You can talk about things like:
- exploring and deciding on career options within and outside of academia
- finding job opportunities
- identifying and exploring further postgraduate study options
- developing your network, including finding useful contacts and LinkedIn advice
- improving CVs, cover letters, job applications and personal statements
- preparing for interviews and other recruitment processes, including psychometric tests.
