Moorings at South Georgia
We have been funded to develop and deploy moorings to make long term observations of krill and oceanographic variation off South Georgia in the Southern Ocean. This is in collaboration with the Open University and the British Antarctic Survey and will begin in late 2002/early 2003. Moorings have the potential to provide data over time-scales that cannot be supported by research vessels, and will hopefully provide insight into dynamic biological and physical oceanographic processes that have consequences for zooplankton at South Georgia, their predators and fisheries.
