April 2012

I have moved to Cornell University, USA, to take up a postdoctoral position working with Kyle Shen and Darrell Schlom.

March 2012

Our work reporting the discovery and characterisation of a 2DEG at the surface of the 5d oxide KTaO3 is published in PRL.

March 2012

Our paper on the control of the bulk conductivity of topological insulators is published in Advanced Materials.

August 2011

Our observation of a large tunable Rashba spin splitting of a 2DEG in the topological insulator Bi2Se3 is published in PRL.

January 2011

We report the creation and control of a 2D electron liquid at the bare surface of SrTiO3 in Nature Materials.

November 2010

Our paper showing that a 2DEG can co-exist with the topological surface state of Bi2Se3 is published in Nature Communications.

June 2010

We have found that the band gap of a semiconductor can display a marked dependence on depth below the surface. Our result is published in PRL.

introduction

This is the website for Phil King. I am a postdoctoral research fellow in the ARPES group of Dr. Felix Baumberger in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of St Andrews, UK. My primary research interests and experience are in the electronic structure and properties of emerging materials, including strongly-correlated solids, topological insulators, and novel semiconductors. These web-pages detail my current and previous research activities and publications. If you would like any more information, please contact me using the details in the panel on the left.
