NAKED ON STAGE PRESENTS ALTERNATE ENDINGS

Working from the overwhelming feeling of vulnerability and nakedness all artists experience when presenting to the public, a group of Creative Writing Postgraduates from the University of St Andrews have formed the production troop, ‘Naked on Stage.’ Knowing that a big part of their future is to read and perform the most intimate of information, their own creations, they banded together to present their work live despite the nakedness one feels when standing on a stage.

This punchy motley crew may come from various backgrounds and each have a distinct style and unique story to tell but they all have the same goal—to get their creative work heard and seen. This is why they are producing a performance entitled Alternate Endings for the 2005 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Alternate Endings is a one-hour performance in which every night (for two weeks) two different original short stories are presented and a one-act play is performed. Following with the title Alternate Endings, every evening this same one act play will have a different ending, so that patrons can return multiple times for a completely different experience.

The only evening Alternate Endings will not present the play is during Family night in which four different short stories all geared towards nine to fifteen year olds will be read.

Naked on Stage’s production of Alternate Endings will not only showcase the talent the prestigious University of St Andrews has fostered in its Creative Writing program, but will offer Fringe goers an alternative to the usual theatrical performance.
