Economics Society

Welcome

The Economics Society of the University of St Andrews is a 200 member strong student-run society rooted in the ancient academic traditions of Scotland's First University. The ultimate objectives of the society are to:

  1. Promote a greater interest in current economic issues,
  2. Inform students on the employment prospects in the public, private and academic sectors,
  3. Enable students to gain experience in critically analysing economic concepts.

The committee is tirelessly organising events to bring these objectives to fruition. We have launched an internal academic speaker series which comprises of St Andrews faculty members giving talks about their research and their input in public policy decision making. Our external speaker series draws from experts in the world of business, finance, journalism and academia that we have established contact with. We also host a number of social events that are generously sponsored by corporates. The Economics Society has also been the cradle of other fantastic St Andrews events such as the St Andrews Economic Forum (www.saef.co.uk).

Membership fees for joining the society are £5 which grants you concession prices (usually at free admission) to all of our events.

If you have any topic or speaker suggestions, please send an email to ts287@st-andrews.ac.uk and Tessa Skot (Speakers) will get in contact with you.

If you are interested in getting involved in the organisational side of the society, please send an email to mp337@st-andrews.ac.uk and Martin Panzer (President) will advise you on how to go about becoming actively involved.

If you are interested in sponsoring the society, please send us an email to kng2@st-andrews.ac.uk and Neil Ghosh (Sponsorship) will be able to forward you our sponsorship package outlining how your firm can get maximum exposure to the St Andrews student population.

We look forward to a successful year and hope to see you at our future events.
