This part of GE2002 aims to bring together physical, environmental, and human dimensions of a specific region - South Asia and the Himalayas - to show how geographers can build an integrated understanding of the world. This course explores several aspects of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka plus the Himalayan states of Nepal, Bhutan, and Chinese-occupied Tibet, and shows how the present-day characteristics and problems of these countries are rooted in the physical environment and their long and intricate history.
