The Council
The Shire Council is a committee of people voted in by members at our AGM in April each year. They are ultimately responsible for everything that happens in the Shire, and are often personally responsible for individual events as well. All are approachable, but each has a different role and is better for helping with different things. Also, the role of each council member seems to change each year depending on who is holding the post. For more information see below.
The Seneschal - David Sandground

The Seneschal is the president of the Shire, and so is ultimately responsible for it, and for making sure that everybody does what they are supposed to. Their position is that of a king or lord (or lady), so everyone has to do what they say...erm... |
The Steward - Molly Engelman

The Steward is the Seneschal's deputy, general dogsbody and advisor. They organise the council and guilds under the Seneschal and are generally in charge when their superior is away. They are also the Shire's Minister of Arts and Sciences, and are supposed to come up with lots of good ideas for the Shire and be generally useful. |
The Chronicler - Rebecca Randall

The Chronicler is the shire's secretary. They are responsible for taking notes at all the council meetings and reminding us that we haven't done what we said we would do last time. They also keep things like Shire addresses and details of useful contacts. |
The Chancellor - Michael Flynn

The Chancellor is in charge of our money. They tell us how much we can't spend, how much we've lost and have to be good at begging the Union for more. They also hold the most treasured possession in the Shire, which is the cheque book, from which oft pours bounty from their generous hand, but more oft flutters the sound of moths on the wing... |
The Court Jester - Vacant

The Court Jester represents all the sub honours students in the Shire, and is responsible for doing their best to help wherever they can. |
Minister for the Dissemination of Public
Information and Propaganda - Gwen Davis

The Progaganda Minister is responsible for flyers, posters and other advertising of our feasts and events. |
The Magister Aetherius - Peter Liddiard

Ahh yes, gentle viewers, it is I, the Shire's faithful webmonkey. It is the Magister Aetherius' job to keep this ye olde website-e up to date and, of course, to be of general assistance to the Shire. |
The Stablehands:
The position of Stablehand is one that does not have any particular allocated duty beyond acting as a junior
dogsbody and being useful. They usually end up doing the things the rest of the council haven't thought
to do, as well as help with cooking for the feasts.There can be any number of elected Stablehands.
