
Berys Gaut is Professor of Philosophy at St. Andrews. He holds a B.A. from Oxford University (Balliol College), and a M.A. and a PhD from Princeton University.
His research interests include: aesthetics, especially its relation to ethics; the philosophy of creativity; the philosophy of film and film theory; and moral theory.
He is co-editor of the Blackwell series, New Directions in Aesthetics; Chairman of the Management Committee of The Philosophical Quarterly; and Director of Research for the School of Philosophical, Anthropological and Film Studies.
He is the author of Art, Emotion and Ethics (Oxford University Press, 2007) and A Philosophy of Cinematic Art (Cambridge University Press, 2010).
