Biological EPR-Spectroscopy

School of Biology/Centre for Biomolecular Sciences

University of St. Andrews

We are members of the interdisciplinary Centre for Bimolecular Scieces and the Centre of Magnetic Resonance. The central method of our biophysical research is multi-frequency continuous wave (cw) and pulsed Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy, which we apply and extend to answer questions related to the structure-dynamics-function relationship in complex biomacromolecules. Studies include:

· RNA structure, folding and catalysis

· Functional protein-protein and protein-DNA complexes

· DNA-based nanomaterials

· Spin Labeling

· EPR methods and synthesis of model systems
