The annual Astrosoc and Quantumsoc Star Ball is being held on the 24th April in the Scores Hotel. There will be a live Ceilidh band along with a Buffet. Tickets will be £15 each or if you buy five or more they will be £14 each. Dress code will be Black Tie. The evening promises to be a great deal of fun and an excellent way to celebrate the end of the semester! http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=56090116597&ref=nf
The Astrosoc AGM is Thursday 16th April in the Whey Pat at 6.30pm, and will be followed at 8.30pm by the astrosoc vs quantum soc pub quiz! Astrosoc won the illustrious title of champions last semester, so please come along and help us keep our title.
The Astrosoc / Quantumsoc pub quiz will take place in the Whey Pat at 21:00. Come along and get your brains out for the chance to win prizes! Entry is free.
Start Time: 4.15pm - 4.45pm Room 301 (Top of first set of stairs after walking into Physics) The show takes place inside an inflatable planetarium, which you crawl inside. You will then be given a 20 minute tour of the night sky in what is a really inspiring and memorable event! I'd really recommend coming along, and depending on numbers we may have two shows. If there are, there will be food and general banter in the common room between shows. The first show is scheduled to start at 4.15pm, again with the possibility of a second show later on.
Pub Quiz. 7.30 in the Whey Pat.

Academic Talk on Colin's work experience at the UK Met Office. Talk will focus on how to get a placement, what it's like to live and work there, and what work projects Colin undertook. Talk accessible to everyone, admission free.
Regardless of the weather we're going to take you up to the observatory, show you where everything is and how it works. We'll put up some deckchairs for stargazing, get the binoculars out, drink hot chocolate and toast some marshmallows. If you want to come along, we'll be meeting outside the union at 8pm on Monday night to take you to the Napier Building at the observatory. If you live in DRA you can probably find your own way there, there's a map on the website if you're unsure of where to go. Likewise, if you're an astrosoc veteran feel free to walk there with us, but you can make your own way there if you like. PLEASE remember to wrap up warm! It can get very cold up there.
Come and check out the Astrosoc Stand at the Fresher's Fayre on Sunday 28/09/2008. Membership for the year will cost £3.00 or £2.00 for one semester.
