To drive the embedding and consistent application of best Procurement practice and to increase the sustainable Value for Money from the University non-pay expenditure - through Advanced Procurement across the Schools, Units and Residences of the University of St Andrews.

Lesley Duncan
Director of Procurement

Lesley joined the University in August 2005 and brings 20-years procurement experience gained from various manufacturing organisations. Since Lesley joined in 2005 Procurement has become an autonomous Unit. Lesley is driving the University Procurement Strategy with key focus on the McClelland recommendations. Implementation and support of devolved purchasing throughout the Universities Schools and Units is one of the main objectives of the department in the coming year.
Lesley is a graduate of MCIPS.

Adrian Wood
Deputy director of Procurement

After working across Scotland with the Clydesdale Bank, Adrian joined the Supplies Office of Residential & Business Services in June 1994. Adrian has experienced the department gradually evolving and in the last 2-years in particular, undergo significant change to become Procurement as a unit in its own right.
Adrian is a graduate of MCIPS.

- Capital projects
- EU / general tendering and advising
- APUC category A & B UIG groups
- Assist with procurement policies, governance and legislation
- Strategic sourcing
- Contract management
- Building Health & Safety Officer
Something about Adrian: Adrian's claim to fame is that he once sang with music legend Johnny Cash. Adrian is a doting Dad and has a keen interest in sport and music.
Sarah Latto
Assistant Procurement Officer

Sarah joined the University within Residential and Business Services as part of the Purchasing team in 1996. Sarah then became PA to the Director of Residential & Business Services until she joined the new Procurement team in October 2006. Sarah's new role as Assistant Procurement Officer has changed significantly from her previous time in Purchasing.

- Administration of tendering process
- Contract management
- Office administration
- Sourcing
- Supervision of Procurement Assistant

Something about Sarah: Sarah is a natural organiser and keeps the Procurement team on their toes and on target! As well as being mum to Jasmine, Sarah enjoys participating in charitable events; including an impressive skydive and yearly Race for Life.

Barry Phillips
Procurement Systems Administrator

After graduating from Abertay University in Dundee with an Honours Degree in Information Systems, Barry joined the University in October 2006 as part of the Finance Team. He then subsequently joined Procurement in his current role in May 2007. This was a new role which has grown from the need to implement and support electronic initiatives throughout the procurement process.

- Administration of e-procurement systems
- Supplier adoption (for e-procurement use)
- Aptos User support / training
- KPI / reporting
- General procurement duties
Something about Barry: Barry has a fantastic sense of humour (or so he thinks). As a keen traveller, Barry doesn't need to try hard to entertain the rest of the team with his countless stories and mishaps around various parts of the world.

Alain Léger
Procurement Assistant

Having relocated to the St Andrews area in March of last year, Alain joined Procurement in October 2008. This new role was created to support the administration activities of the Procurement team in acheiving the goals and objectives of the unit. Having previously been a Senior Customer Service Adviser within a call centre, Alain brings to the team a cheery disposition and a more than helpful manner in assisting enquirers to the Department.

- Frontline / first point of contact for Procurement for all communication / e-mail enquiries
- Procurement Website administrator
- Advice and support
- Preparation and management of corporate credit card applications and reports

- General procurement duties
Something about Alain: Alain brings a little "je ne sais quoi" to the office with a colourful array of socks!!! With France as his homeland - Alain's Procurement expertise is in the purchase of wine!
