English language requirements for pre-degree students
Requirements for 2019 entry
The requirements listed below are relevant for applicants for 2019 entry.
If you use English as an additional language and you are coming to study at the University of St Andrews as a pre-degree student, you must provide evidence that you meet the English language requirements for pre-degree students.
The University can assess your English language ability from a range of tests and qualifications but if you need a Tier 4 visa, UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires you to provide a Secure English Language Test (SELT) as the language evidence for your visa application. This can be either an IELTS (Academic) for UKVI or a Trinity SELT (ISE II).

Providing your English language evidence
Evidence of your English language ability can be submitted through the applicant portal. If you do not have evidence available when you submit your application, this will form part of any conditional offer made by the University and you will be expected to provide the evidence at a later date.
