What is a micro-credential?

A micro-credential is a short, focused university course designed to help you develop practical knowledge and skills in a specific subject area. Our micro-credentials are designed to fit around work, family and other commitments.

Unlike non-credit online courses, St Andrews micro-credentials are credit-bearing and assessed, giving you formal recognition for your learning. Each micro-credential can be studied as a standalone course or used as part of a pathway towards a larger qualification. The academic credits you earn can be combined towards a Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) pathway, allowing you to build your knowledge over time and work towards a larger university qualification.
