The Old Mill, Dundee

The University of St Andrews has worked with purpose-built student accommodation provider, Mears Student Life, in nearby Dundee to create accommodation for University students.

You will have access to all of the usual library, study and recreational spaces in St Andrews, and several other benefits.

The Old Mill offers a highly attractive option in a prime location in the centre of Dundee.

Dundee is a vibrant and diverse urban community. It has a range of multi-faith and cultural communities, international grocery shops and restaurants, museums, galleries and theatres, live music venues, and student bars.

There are flats of two to five bedrooms available, sharing a kitchen and bathroom.

Cost and contract length 

For the 2023-2024 academic year, rent is £129 per week. This includes utilities, wifi and contents insurance. 

Contracts last 50 weeks, from Saturday 2 September 2023 to Saturday 17 August 2024. 

Location

The Old Mill is a 10-minute walk from Dundee railway station and Dundee's main shopping centre, and a 15-minute walk from Dundee bus station.

This means you can get to the University in under an hour using public transport.

There is an active Halls Life team at Old Mill. The team organises social events, develops student community, and supports student wellbeing.

Culture and religion

Old Mill is close to the world-famous Dundee V&A museum and the royal research ship 'Discovery'. There are churches, synagogues, and mosques in the local area. 

Sport and fitness

Nearby, there are many options for sport and fitness. This includes:

  • an indoor climbing centre 
  • a 50-metre swimming pool 
  • a water park offering paddle boarding and wakeboarding.

There is a wide range of NHS dentist options to choose from, as well as private healthcare providers.
