Teaching

Prof Di Falco teaches the course of Nanophotonics at Master level.  Locally he gives tutoring support, and organises and marks the experimental activity and the exams. He also supports the teaching program of the Photonics Laboratory.

Research areas

Andrea Di Falco is professor in nano-photonics at the School of Physics and Astronomy, at the University of St Andrews. In 2010 he was awarded a fellowship from EPSRC, to develop the concept of flexible metamaterials and plasmonics at visible wavelengths. In 2019 he was awarded a ERC Consolidator grant to develop biophotonic applications of optically trapped photonic membranes. His interests cover different areas of photonics, from metamaterials to photonic crystals and applications of nonlinear optics and biophotonics.
