Research areas
Yishan Jiang's interdisciplinary research examines how kinship has shaped the modern nation through elite-driven constructions in the twentieth century. To be specific, Yishan analysed how state and intellectual discourses historically mobilised kinship, especially vertical, blood-based hierarchies, to serve nation-building agendas.
