Statistician elected to the Royal Society of Edinburgh
David Borchers, Professor of Statistics in the School of Mathematics and Statistics and CREEM (Centre for Research into Ecological and Environmental Modelling), was recently elected to the Fellowship of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Scotland’s National Academy. Professor Borchers is an expert in ecological statistics, and specialises in statistical methods for estimating wildlife populations from survey data, including distance sampling, mark-recapture, spatial modelling methods and surveying with digital detectors.
