Graduation day checklist

If you can no longer attend your graduation ceremony, please email graduation@st-andrews.ac.uk with your address and phone number for your degree certificate

Do not bring large bags or rucksacks to Younger Hall as there is no suitable storage.

1. Watch the video

This short video explains what to expect at the ceremony.

2. Get to St Andrews

If you are travelling by car, please make sure you allow enough time for your journey. 

3. Go to Buchanan Lecture Theatre

Bring your student ID card to collect your guest ceremony and garden party tickets, from the Buchanan Lecture Theatre.

4. Go to Younger Hall

Younger Hall is where you'll collect:

  • your gown and hood
  • your own ceremony ticket with your seat number
  • your own wristband for the garden party

5. Prepare before you leave your seat

Leave your programme, phone, ticket and other belongings under your seat when you go up to cross the stage.

6. Get your photo

Get your photograph taken in the marquee next to Younger Hall before or after your ceremony. No booking required. 

7. Tell your guests without a ticket how they can watch the ceremony

Guests without tickets can watch the ceremony in any of the following ways:
